Valuing the heritage of Italian opera productions and theaters through ICT methods and tools: this is the ambitious challenge of the "Cantico" Project, a research project co-financed by the European Union which ranked first in the ministry's tender of the University and research Horizon 2020-Pon "Research and Innovation" 2014/2020 - specialization area Design, creativity and made in Italy.
The objectives
Created by Innovaway SpA - lead company, University of Sannio - research body, "Nicola Sala" State Conservatory of Music - public body, Digitalcomoedia Srl, EaiSoftware Srl, Step Srl, Meditel Srl, Officina Rambaldi Srl, Cantico represents arises multiple objectives to be framed in both the national and international scenario: to encourage the growth of theater audiences, especially the younger ones through the use of new technologies that allow for the diversification of the use of the theatrical work; train the artists of tomorrow through immersive technologies; improve the programming capacity of theaters through innovative data collection and analysis tools.
The news
Cantico offers diversified features for different types of users. - New mode of singing rehearsals: the student wearing devices will be immersed in a scenography and will have the opportunity to directly read the score and the suggestions of the teachers. - New guided tour of the theatre: upon entering the theatre, the user will be able to receive alerts on the availability of new programming, support during check-in, contextual information thanks to proximity sensors, a welcome and a story about the works thanks to a holographic representation. - New vision of the Opera: with the use of wearable devices, the user will be immersed in the 3D vision of the Opera, thanks to which he will be able to position himself on the stage, in the front row, choose to have additional information on the Opera, select the language in which to obtain the information or read the booklet. - Immersive experience of the Opera even remotely: through a live 3D view on stage during the performance and an on-demand immersive view of the performance.
The presentation
It was presented on Friday 26 May in Benevento in the presence of Caterina Meglio, president of the "Nicola Sala" Conservatory of Music, Clemente Mastella, mayor of Benevento, Luigi Nicolais, advisor for research policies to the minister of university and research Annamaria Bernini , Gerardo Canfora, rector of the University of Sannio, Giosuè Grassia, director of the Conservatory, Giuseppe Di Giovambattista and Antonio Giacomini, R&D manager and CEO of Innovaway.
